NEW: Madonsela to be honoured by her peers

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela will on Saturday be conferred with the Sydney and Felicia Kentridge Award by the General Council of the Bar of South Africa at its Annual General Meeting in Cape Town.

The Council says the award is conferred to a person or institution who has made an outstanding contribution to law in Southern Africa worthy of public recognition.

Through this award‚ the Public Protector enters the elite list of previous recipients who include late Chief Justices Arthur Chaskalson and Pius Langa; Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke; Justice Yvonne Mokgoro; senior counsel George Bizos and human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa from Zimbabwe.
