NEWS: South Africa remains Ebola free, but the outbreak in West Africa is getting worse

The Health Department has stressed that there is still no suspected or confirmed case of Ebola in South Africa or  its neighbouring countries.

Up to the 12^th of this month, eight-thousand-997 confirmed, probable and suspected cases of the virus were reported in  seven countries, namely Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Spain and the United States.

There have been four-thousand-493 known deaths. The department nevertheless says the outbreak continues to accelerate.

According to the World Health Organisation, it is not unthinkable that 20-thousand people could become infected before the crisis is over.
