NEWS: Nigeria says it has secured the release of Chibok’s abducted girls

Nigeria’s government has reportedly reached a deal with Islamic group Boko Haram for a cease-fire and the release of around 200 girls kidnapped six months ago from a school in Chibok.

The country’s defence chief is quoted as saying the agreement follows three days of talks with the militant group.

Boko Haram has killed thousands of people in a five-year insurgency aimed at creating an Islamic caliphate in Nigeria’s impoverished northeast.
