NEWS: Amnesty International says far too many South African women die during childbirth








The London based rights watchdog Amnesty International warns that the number of South African women  who die while giving birth is still at unacceptable levels.

Salil Shetty, Amnesty International Secretary General told a media briefing in Johannesburg that of every 100-thousand  women giving birth in South Africa, 269 die.

Amnesty International says in a report the government can prevent these deaths by training more should train more maternity health professionals.
