NEW: Buffalo City Blows Millions On ‘Ghost Events’

The Buffalo City Municipality in the Eastern Cape has been accused of paying more than R2 million for “ghost” events that have never taken place.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) says one these events include an ‘egg and spoon’ race, which cost R250,000.

The DA’s Kevin Mileham says there are a number of sports tournaments, funded by the Buffalo City Municipality, which have allegedly never taken place.
