NEWS: Bible to keep premier true

Makhura declared the bible given to him by the Zion Church Services, herbal tea from a deputy minister in Sri Lanka and precious stones from the office of the governor of Katanga province, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the members' register of the Gauteng legislature.


Makhura owns three properties: a house and a 1ha vacant stand in Midrand, north of Johannesburg; and 1ha of land in Venda, Limpopo. He drives a 2008 model Range Rover Sport.

Hlongwa - who is fending off an asset-forfeiture claim against his R7.2-million house in Bryanston, northern Johannesburg after accusations of corruption regarding a R1.4-billion tender when he was health MEC - declared shareholdings in Golden Pond Trading 363, Brisigo Properties, Makhaba Investment Holdings and Double Ring Trading. He said the nominal value of his shares was R100. He drives a Mercedes CLK 500 and a Mercedes E280.
