WATCH: Nelson Mandela’s Interview With Oprah – Showing His Humility To Mankind

Watch the late former President Nelson Mandela on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2000. The world leader talks of his time on Robben Island and the peace talks that paved the way for a democratic South Africa.

“The thing that was challenging was getting [Mandela] to admit that he played the greatest role in the Apartheid movement,” said Winfrey. “Because he kept saying, “no it wasn’t me, it was all the other people,’ and I realised in that interview with him that that is what true humility is.

“He was insistent upon not going forward with the interview without including all of the other people who were part of the movement.”
