NEWS: A Vereeniging couple save a drowning girl’s life in KZN

A couple from Vereeniging, on holiday on KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast, saved a local teenage girl’s life through their quick action. Leandre Janse van Rensburg and her boyfriend Dirk de Bruin were relaxing on the beach at Port Edward when they noticed someone in trouble in the surf.

De Bruin swam out about 20 meters and brought the thirteen-year-old learner to the beach.

There his girlfriend, Leandre, initiated CPR and the girl was soon coughing up water. NSRI and Netcare medics arrived on the scene and took over.

The learner, from Mdatya School, was admitted to hospital.
