NEWS: Soweto woman robbed by praying thief

A woman has been robbed by a man who convinced her to take him to her home in Moletsane, Soweto, and pray with him, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

The woman was walking in the street on Wednesday when she was approached by a man who told her he knew she had problems in her life, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

"He told her that she has got problems in the home and if she does not want them to carry on she must pray with him at her home."

The woman took the man to her house and he led her in prayer.

"While they were praying, a car drove up... and they stole a laptop and cellphone.

"When she said 'Amen' and looked up, then they were both gone."

No one had been arrested by noon on Thursday.
