NEWS: 11 die as police fire teargas at Zim church gathering

ZIMBABWE- Officials say 11 people have been killed in a stampede at a church gathering in central Zimbabwe.



It’s understood this morning's stampede was triggered when police fired teargas into crowds who were trying to leave the venue through the only exit.

An estimated 15,000 people had gone to the church rally held by Walter Magaya, one of Zimbabwe’s most popular religious prophets.

Problems started at around 2am when the crowds were trying to leave the football stadium in the central mining town of Kwekwe.
