NEWS: Police search for Fstate church robbers

Police have launched a manhunt for two men who allegedly robbed a church in Welkom, Free State police said on Wednesday.

"Police in Welkom are looking for two neatly dressed men after a church was robbed of cash," said Constable Kethabile Mofokeng.

The robbery took place on Friday morning after the church caretaker opened the building.
They entered the church and held an employee at gunpoint.

Three people were tied up with cable ties and cash was demanded.

A woman employee was allegedly assaulted during the robbery.

"The suspects demanded [the] safe keys [that] were allegedly taken from her handbag. The safe of the church was opened and [an] undisclosed amount of cash was taken."

A case of armed robbery was opened. (SAPA)
