NEWS: First Ladies of Africa working together to empower women

The First Ladies of Africa are calling on the international community to strengthen support for maternal and new-born health.














On Monday, the wives of over thirty African presidents met at UN Headquarters in New York at an event organized by Chad and the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA.

According to the UNFPA, the rate of maternal mortality in Africa is still unacceptably high when compared to figures for the rest of the world.
