NEW: Gupta Executives Get Threatening Phone Calls

Oakbay Investments boss Nazeem Howa says since EFF leader Julius Malema’s threats against the Gupta family, company executives have started receiving threatening phone calls.

The details are contained in an affidavit submitted in the High Court in Pretoria today.

The Gupta family is applying to interdict Malema and EFF members from inciting violence against their companies and employees.

NEW: Zuma will pay back the money

President Jacob Zuma will pay back the money but the reasonable amount is yet to be determined.

This was the concession on Tuesday in the Constitutional Court by Zuma's advocate in the case about Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's report on the upgrades at his private residence in Nkandla.

“We are proposing that which could bring an end to the protracted issue which has traumatised the nation‚” Zuma’s counsel Jeremy Gauntlett SC said.

NEW: SA deports 140 Zim ex-cons, 100s more to follow this week

Hundreds of illegal Zimbabwean migrants are to be deported from South Africa on Wednesday following the forced repatriation of 140 ex-prisoners this weekend, state media has reported.

The official Chronicle newspaper said that 950 Zimbabwean migrants who had broken South African immigration regulations had been identified at Lindela Holding Centre in Johannesburg.

Zimbabwe's consul-general to South Africa Batiraishe Mukonoweshuro told the paper on Saturday that "most of the immigrants at the transit camp will be sent home on Wednesday [this] week".

NEW: 'Parliament Must Remain Functional And Intact'

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane says President Jacob Zuma must be allowed to deliver his State of the Nation Address (Sona) next week Thursday, without incident, as the ghost of last year’s chaos haunts Parliament.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has fuelled fears there would be a repeat of the drama.

Its leader Julius Malema is quoted as saying Zuma would have to explain why he fired former Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene before delivering his speech.

NEW: Weak rand spells higher than usual DStv price hike

The ongoing weakening of the rand foreshadows a possible bigger price hike this year than usual for South African DStv subscribers as local pay-TV subscribers will have to bear the brunt of the currency that continues to slide.

Last year's depreciation, coupled with the rand's ongoing weakening in 2016, spells a bigger than usual subscription increase for DStv subscribers since the local currency has lost a third of its value since 2015. MultiChoice usually announces at the end of February what the increase will be that comes into effect by April.

NEW: Sevens ref apologises to Blitzboks

Sevens referee Matt O’Brien has apologised to the Springbok Sevens team for his performance in last weekend’s controversial Wellington Sevens final.

O’Brien met with Bok Sevens coach Neil Powell on Wednesday in Sydney ahead of this weekend’s Sydney Sevens along with World Rugby Sevens assessor Tappe Henning and delivered a “heartfelt” apology for the way he refereed the final of the tournament.
